Men’s College Basketball: Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic Completes Early Season Tournament Schedule

The Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic concludes ESPN’s early season college basketball tournament schedule with the championship game on Christmas Day Wednesday, Dec. 25, at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The annual holiday event – 12 games over three days in a bracket-style format – includes No. 17 Iowa State, Akron, Boise State, George Mason, Hawaii, Oregon State, South Carolina and Saint Mary’s.

The semifinals will air on Monday, Dec. 23, at 4:30 p.m. (ESPNU) and 9 p.m. (ESPN2), with the third-place matchup on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2. Additional consolation rounds will be televised across ESPNU and ESPN3.  In addition, Morehead State will face Tennessee Monday at 7 p.m. (ESPNU).

A part of the Internal Communications team at ESPN, I began with the network in 2010 as part of the College Sports PR team. Always an avid sports fan and not an athlete – I grew up a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers, while also watching my brother compete at different levels. I became the manager of several high school sports teams and continued that hobby into college. While at Quinnipiac, I worked in the Sports Information Department, which led me to a summer internship at the New Haven Ravens, a AA baseball team, and an eventual job with the Athletic Communications Department at the University of Connecticut. After my five-year stint at Connecticut, I spent six years as Director of Communications at the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. before joining ESPN.
