ABC Generates Highest-Rated NBA Conference Semifinals Broadcast Since 2011 for Golden State vs. Houston Game 1

5.9 Metered Market Rating Up 34 Percent from 2018, Peaked with 8.1 Rating

ABC generated its highest-rated NBA Conference Semifinals broadcast since 2011 on Sunday for the Golden State Warriors Game 1 victory over the Houston Rockets. The broadcast delivered a 5.9 metered market rating, up 34 percent from last year’s comparable game. It peaked with an 8.1 rating in the final quarter hour, according to Nielsen. Yesterday’s ABC broadcast delivered a 17.4 in the San Francisco-Oakland market and a 13.0 in the Houston market.

Additionally, ABC’s coverage of Sunday’s NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals Game 1, in which the Boston Celtics defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, generated a 3.7 metered market rating. It was up 16 percent from the last comparable Game 1, in 2017. The broadcast drew a 14.3 rating in the Milwaukee market and a 9.3 rating in the Boston market.

I began my sports career as a small forward for JCPS #9’s elementary basketball team, and then years later gave up my hoop dreams (sort of) to work as the Public Relations Coordinator for the New York Knicks. I earned a B.A. in Communications from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, where I met my husband Matthew, and later attended New York University to earn a M.S. in Public Relations and Corporate Communications.
