Ben Strauss writes for ESPN’s enterprise and investigative unit.

Before joining ESPN in April of 2026, he spent eight years at the Washington Post, covering sports media and business where he wrote about the biggest personalities driving the sports world and the money behind it. His work at the Post was recognized multiple times by the Associated Press Sports Editors and The Year’s Best Sportswriting anthology.

Prior to the Post, Strauss was a contributing writer for Politico, covering sports, media and politics and the New York Times, where he focused on sports business including coverage of the NCAA. He is also the co-author of Indentured: Inside the Rebellion Against the NCAA, which won the Pen/ESPN Award for Literary Sportswriting in 2017.

Strauss, a Chicago native, is a graduate of Ithaca College. He lives in Chicago with his wife and two children.
