Longhorn Network to air NCAA Division I Softball Austin Regional Featuring Texas Softball

Longhorn Network will air all University of Texas Softball games during the 2012 NCAA Division I Softball Austin Regional, May 18-20. The participating teams include Auburn, Houston, Northwestern and Texas. The tournament will be held at Red and Charline McCombs Field.

LHN will telecast only the Texas softball games over the three-day, double-elimination bracket, beginning with Northwestern vs. Texas on Friday, May 18 at 4 p.m. CT. Carter Blackburn, college sports commentator for ESPN, will handle play-by-play duties throughout the weekend. All-American and two-time Olympian Cat Osterman will serve as analyst on Saturday and Sunday. Amanda Freed, Olympic Gold Medalist and ESPN analyst, will serve as analyst for Friday’s game.

Connie Clark, head coach of Texas Softball, said, “We are looking forward to hosting NCAA Regionals at McCombs Field. It is always a privilege to play in front of our home crowd who support us so well. The athletes are peaking at the right time and everyone is confident heading into post season. The team is playing with tremendous competitive spirit and welcomes the challenges ahead. I have seen this team compete and ‘scrap’ at a new level this spring and it will make a difference for us in 2012.”
