ESPN3 to Carry the 30th Anniversary Louis Vuitton Cup Final Throughout the Week
For the first time this year, ESPN3 — ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network — will carry this week’s races for the 30th Anniversary Louis Vuitton Cup Finals. The Louis Vuitton Cup, the regatta that determines which challenger races the defender in the America’s Cup Finals, is being held for the first time in San Francisco Bay. Races are scheduled to be delivered on ESPN3 as follows:
- Wednesday, Aug. 21: Final Race 4 (4:10 pm ET), Final Race 5 (5:10 pm ET)
- Friday, Aug. 23: Final Race 6 (4:00 p.m. ET)
Scheduled from July 7 to Aug. 30, three teams are entered in the 2013 Louis Vuitton Cup, including Artemis Racing of Sweden, Emirates Team New Zealand, and Luna Rossa Challenge of Italy. On Sunday, Luna Rossa evened the score at 1-1 with a win against Emirates Team New Zealand. Monday, however, Emirates Team New Zealand sailed away with a victory due to a mechanical failure to Italy’s Luna Rossa Challenge, taking a 2-1 lead.
The Louis Vuitton Cup, the America’s Cup Challenger Series, determines which challenger races the defender in the America’s Cup Finals. The 34th America’s Cup Finals will match the winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup against the defender, ORACLE TEAM USA, beginning Sept. 7.
