ESPN2 and WatchESPN will air action from all four days of play in the Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex, an event that brings together some of golf’s all-time greats.
Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in South Wales, UK, will host the championship Thursday, July 24, through Sunday, July 27, with ESPN2’s telecasts airing noon – 2 p.m. ET daily. The 28th edition of the event is being held in Wales and at Royal Porthcawl for the first time.
Legendary American golfer Tom Watson will be trying to win a record fourth Senior Open Championship, having previously won the event in 2003, 2005 and 2007.
To claim his fourth title, Watson will have to beat Bernhard Langer, a prolific winner on the Champions Tour, and other stars of senior golf including Colin Montgomerie, Fred Couples, Corey Pavin, Miguel Angel Jiménez and defending Senior Open Championship winner Mark Wiebe.
Sean McDonough will host ESPN2’s telecasts with analysis by two-time U.S. Open champions Andy North and Curtis Strange while Dottie Pepper and Bill Kratzert will report from the course.
All Senior Open Championship programming on ESPN2 is available via WatchESPN on computers, smartphones, tablets, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast (via the WatchESPN app), Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It is currently accessible in more than 67.5 million households nationwide to fans who receive ESPN’s linear networks as part of their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
