Doubting Thomas

On Friday, the New York Liberty kicks off its season with a new president at the helm: Isiah Thomas. His appointment and prospective part ownership of the WNBA team has raised some eyebrows. Less than 10 years ago, when he was president of the New York Knicks, Thomas was found guilty of creating a hostile work environment after Anucha Browne Sanders — then one of the highest ranking black female executives in sports — filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against him. Though Thomas has maintained his innocence, the controversy has some questioning whether he is an appropriate choice to lead a women’s professional basketball franchise. Kelly Naqi reports.

Baseball for All

Dr. Justine Siegal, the only woman to coach men’s professional baseball and the first to throw batting practice to a Major League Baseball team, is the founder of “Baseball for All,” an organization that fosters, encourages, and provides opportunities for girls to participate in baseball. The group staged America’s first national baseball tournament for girls ages 10-13 this week in Kissimmee, Fla., and SportsCenter speaks with Dr. Siegal as well as some of the girls who participated in the event.
