Top Women’s College Basketball Coaches & Players to Convene at ESPN Tuesday

Some of the top women’s college basketball coaches and players will visit ESPN’s Bristol, Conn., headquarters for a “Car Wash” on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to discuss the upcoming season and topics in the news across multiple ESPN programs and platforms throughout the day. All four 2015 Women’s Final Four head coaches – Geno Auriemma (UConn), Brenda Frese (Maryland), Muffet McGraw (Notre Dame) and Dawn Staley (South Carolina) as well as a “Starting Five” of top student-athletes – Nina Davis (Baylor), Diamond DeShields (Tennessee), Moriah Jefferson (UConn), Tiffany Mitchell (South Carolina) and Breanna Stewart (UConn) will join in the event. Representatives from several conferences and the NCAA will be on hand, as well national and regional media outlets.

The Women’s Basketball Media Day will serve as the tipoff to the start of the 2015-16 season and will include appearances on SportsCenter, Mike & Mike, First Take, His & Hers and SEC Now. Additional content, including stories and video interviews, will be available on espnW.

Interviews will also be conducted to use throughout the season with ESPN the Magazine, espnW and ESPN’s studio and game coverage.

ESPN’s 2015-16 women’s college basketball regular-season schedule includes 137 games across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network and Longhorn Network – topping the number of games previously aired on ESPN networks. All telecasts will be streamed live on WatchESPN, accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.

ESPN2’s women’s basketball schedule opens with the annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon presented by Constant Contact on Monday, Nov. 16, showcasing three-time defending national champion UConn at No. 13 Ohio State at 5:30 p.m. ET – the first of 10 games tipping off about every two hours before programming switches over to ESPN.

A part of the Internal Communications team at ESPN, I began with the network in 2010 as part of the College Sports PR team. Always an avid sports fan and not an athlete – I grew up a huge fan of the Hartford Whalers, while also watching my brother compete at different levels. I became the manager of several high school sports teams and continued that hobby into college. While at Quinnipiac, I worked in the Sports Information Department, which led me to a summer internship at the New Haven Ravens, a AA baseball team, and an eventual job with the Athletic Communications Department at the University of Connecticut. After my five-year stint at Connecticut, I spent six years as Director of Communications at the BIG EAST Conference in Providence, R.I. before joining ESPN.
