The US Open Women’s Championship on ESPN on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 4 p.m. ET will be decided between Angelique Kerber – who seeks her second Major title of 2016 and on Monday will ascend to the top of the WTA rankings regardless of outcome, supplanting Serena Williams after a record-tying 186 consecutive weeks – and No. 10 seed Karolina Pliskova, the 24-year old who ousted the six-time US Open champion Williams in the semifinals.  Chris Fowler will call the match with six-time US Open champion Chrissie Evert while Pam Shriver will report from courtside.

• Angelique Kerber, the No. 2 seed, is appearing in her third Major final this year. The German defeated Williams in Australia and lost to Williams at Wimbledon.  At 28, she is the oldest player ever to rise to No. 1 for the first time.
• Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic shocked the world in the semifinal round by dismissing No. 1 Serena Williams who was aiming for a 23rd Major title and seventh in New York. The 6’1”, 24-year old who leads the WTA in serving aces in 2016 has never before reached beyond the third round of a Major tournament.

• The men’s doubles championship will be played Saturday at noon on WatchESPN with Patrick McEnroe and Brad Gilbert in the booth with Darren Cahill courtside. 4 seed and Australian Open winners this year Jamie Murray of Scotland (brother of Andy) and Bruno Soares of Brazil will face Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Spanish compatriot Pablo Carreno Busta.
• Sunday’s order of play includes the women’s doubles championship at noon between American Bethanie Mattek-Sands teamed with Lucie Safarova and the top-seeded French tandem of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic. The duo of Mattek-Sands and Safarova took the crown at last year’s Australian and French Opens.  In addition, Mattek-Sands partnered with Jack Sock to win the mixed doubles gold medal at the Rio Olympics.  Garcia and Mladenovic took the trophy at their home Grand Slam event this year, in Paris.  Pam Shriver and Mary Joe Fernandez will call the action.
• Saturday and Sunday action also includes play from the boys and girls junior tournaments.
• WatchESPN also has a feed from the main press conference room in the media center so fans can hear from the players soon after the championship matches.
• Spanish-language commentary is offered for both the women’s and men’s championship.
• The “US Open Chase Review Multicam,” shows the women’s and men’s championships with three views on the screen – iso-cams on each player and the traditional TV production.

Looking Ahead to Sunday’s Men’s Championship

Sunday’s US Open Men’s Championship will be on ESPN at 4 p.m., preceded by a 30-minute 2016 US Open Men’s Championship Preview Show.  Either No. 1 Novak Djokovic or No. 10 Gael Monfils will face either No. 3 Stan Wawrinka or No. 6 Kei Nishikori, based on Friday’s semifinals.
