The College Football Playoff selection committee’s first weekly in-season rankings will be exclusively revealed on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The one-hour College Football Playoff: Top 25 will continue on each Tuesday night in November and then conclude with the CFP selection committee’s final rankings, the College Football Playoff matchups and the New Year’s Six field all announced on Sunday, Dec. 3, also on ESPN at noon.
Rece Davis hosts the weekly special, with analysts Paul Finebaum, Joey Galloway, Kirk Herbstreit, Booger McFarland, Jesse Palmer and David Pollack all appearing throughout the next month. Each week, the one-hour special will include:
- The Rankings: Unveiling of the CFP selection committee’s Top 25 within approximately the first 20 minutes of the show
- Inside the Room: Interview with CFP selection committee chair Kirby Hocutt
- Coaches’ Perspective: Reaction from coaches that are among the ranked teams including Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly during the first show
- Instant Analysis: Dissection and projection of the entire selection committee’s process.
College Football Playoff: Top 25 Airs Through November
College Football Playoff: Top 25 will follow its season debut episode this week with weekly editions on Nov. 7, 14, 21, and 28. Each week the special will air at 7 p.m. ET, except for the November 14 edition which will air at approximately 9 p.m. in-between the two games of the State Farm Champions Classic.
College Football Playoff Ranking Facts:
- Peaking Too Early: In the first three years of the College Football Playoff format, the top-ranked team in the initial rankings has not won the CFP National Championship in that season
- Who’s In: Of the 12 teams placed in the top 4 in the selection committee’s initial rankings in the last three years, only five made the College Football Playoff in that given year
- Double Dipping: No conference has ever gotten two teams into the College Football Playoff
