Semifinal Round (Bantamweight) – Brady Hiestand vs Vince Murdock – Hiestand wins by TKO.
Hiestand: “I was more cautious heading into this fight. With Josh, he was so well rounded I just had to go out there and fight and do my best. With this one, while he wasn’t as good on the ground he has a bit heavier hands so I had to be more cautious and more rangy. I also had to setup my takedowns way better, which I think I did. I was a little surprised at how easy I executed the game plan and everything I wanted to do I could do right when I wanted to do it.”
Murdock: “When he went for the takedown, I tried to shuffle and my knee just completely gave out. I’ve been dealing with knee injuries since I was 17. Obviously, I shouldn’t have let him get in on the shot, but as soon as we got to the mat, I knew something was wrong. I felt very vulnerable on my back, like a fish out of water. Good on him, he set it up perfectly.”
