College Sports Update – June 5

Baseball: ESPN’s Record-Setting NCAA Division I Baseball Championship Coverage Continues
ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3’s record coverage of the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship – up to 83 games from June 1 to June 26, culminating with the College World Series – will continue Friday, June 8, at noon on ESPN2 and ESPN3, with Stony Brook vs. LSU from Baton Rouge, La.

ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to cover all eight of the best-of-three Super Regionals (up to 24 games) from June 8 to June 11. ESPN3 will simulcast every game. For the 10th consecutive year, ESPN and ESPN2 will together present the entire College World Series (up to 17 games from June 15-26).

Softball: Women’s College World Series Winding Down

After winning last night’s game 4-1, No. 4 Oklahoma will face No. 2 Alabama for the second night at 8 p.m. on ESPN2 in the best-of-three Women’s College World Series Finals. A Sooners win tonight will give Oklahoma its second National Championship. Should Alabama win, the series will extend to tomorrow with the deciding game airing on ESPN at 8 p.m. Alabama is appearing in the Championship Series for the first time in hopes of also becoming the first SEC team to win the title.

ESPN’s Beth Mowins will provide play-by-play in the NCAA Championship Series Finals alongside U.S. Olympic gold medalists Jessica Mendoza and Michele Smith. Holly Rowe will report from the field

NCAA Spring Championships: Track & Field

As part of ESPN’s extended rights agreement with the NCAA, ESPNU will air the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship for the first time on Saturday, June 9 at noon. At the conclusion of the CWS, ESPN networks will have aired more than 400 hours of spring championship programming across seven sports over eight weeks, including: men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s & women’s outdoor track & field, men’s volleyball, softball and baseball.

This Week on ESPNU: NBA Draft Combine

Throughout Thursday, June 7 and Friday, June 8, ESPNU will present eight hours from the 2012 NBA Draft Combine at the Flames Athletic Center in Chicago. Coverage will begin each day at 10 a.m. and will be highlighted by interviews with top draft picks, NBA and college coaches, and general managers. The Draft Combine will also be available on ESPN3.

In addition to live reporting and analysis, viewers will get an inside look at how the expected top draft picks fair in the following skills challenges:

Lane Agility Drill
Modified Lane Agility Drill
3/4 Court Sprint

College Football Live Continues Daily ESPN & ESPNU

ESPN’s daily, half-hour College Football Live program (3:30 p.m., ESPN & 4 p.m., ESPNU) continues in the off season examining everything from conference realignment to team previews and player injury reports. This week’s remaining College Football Live shows will feature host Joe Tessitore with analyst Andre Ware. Next week, from ESPNU’s Charlotte, N.C., studios, Dari Nowkhah will host with analysts Jesse Palmer and Brock Huard.
