ESPN Complements X Games with World of X Games on ABC

Series to Feature X Games, Partner Event Recaps and Original Athlete Programs

ESPN has officially launched World of X Games, a series featuring a variety of X Games and athlete-focused content on ABC. World of X Games will be home to the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) men’s and women’s pro surf tour recap shows and will lead with the first men’s stop – the Quik Pro Australia – from the Gold Coast on March 22 at 3 p.m. ET. Additional shows will be scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays throughout 2014 with regular weekly shows beginning in July.

“Our goal in producing World of X Games is to offer a broader year-round platform for the X Games and the athletes,” said Tim Reed, X Games senior director, events & content. “The show will allow us to tell deeper stories about the personalities that are so important and relevant to our industry. We are proud to team with influential and respected organizations, brands and producers to bring more X Games content to our fans throughout the year.”

In addition, World of X Games will highlight athletes, artists, event previews and recaps around X Games Austin and profile iconic action sport figures from the past and present such as Kelly Slater, Ken Block, Nyjah Huston and more. Shows will also include adaptive action sports athletes, “Best of” shows and programs such as Hell and High Water,” a three-part Big Wave Surf series, following the lives of renowned big wave surfers – Mark Healy, Shane Dorian, Greg Long, Grant “Twiggy” Baker and Ryan Hipwood – as they journey in search of the biggest waves in the world.
