College Football: 13 Ranked Teams, Headlined by No. 1 Florida State, Highlight Week 5 Schedule

ESPN’s week 5 college football game schedule will feature 13 ranked teams in the Associated Press poll, including five top 10 teams, headlined by No. 1 Florida State playing its first ACC road game this season:

ABC will provide a split national telecast of No. 1 Florida State at NC State and Minnesota at Michigan (Saturday, Sept. 27 at 3:30 p.m. ET) with reverse mirror coverage on ESPN2. The top-ranked Seminoles are 1-0 in conference play, while the undefeated Wolfpack will open up ACC play Saturday
No. 5 Auburn, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 9 Michigan State, and No. 10 Ole Miss are also in action across ESPN networks on Saturday

ESPN will televise three ranked teams, including a prime-time double-header, also on Saturday: No. 12 Georgia will host Tennessee (noon), No. 13 South Carolina is home against Missouri (7 p.m.) and No. 18 USC vs. Oregon State (10:30 p.m.) concludes the day.

Additional highlights:

The ABC Saturday Night Football showcase will feature No. 8 Notre Dame playing Syracuse at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
SEC Network will feature a conference matchup, and two-ranked teams: Vanderbilt travels to Kentucky (noon), No. 5 Auburn hosts Louisiana Tech (4 p.m.) and No. 17 LSU is home against New Mexico State (7:30 p.m.)
ESPN2’s triple-header will begin with No. 9 Michigan State hosting Wyoming (noon) and conclude with Duke at Miami (Fla.)
ESPNU will televise four games beginning with No. 19 Wisconsin hosting South Florida (noon) followed by two ACC conference games: Wake Forest at Louisville (3:30 p.m.) and North Carolina at Clemson (7:00 p.m.)
ESPN3 will carry No. 10 Ole Miss hosting Memphis*, headlining a 17-game slate

ESPN’s College GameDay Heads to South Carolina

ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot – college football’s longest running and most celebrated pregame show – will make its fifth stop of the season in Columbia, S.C., for the SEC matchup between No. 13 South Carolina and Missouri on Saturday, Sept. 27. The weekly three-hour Emmy Award-winning show (Saturday 9 a.m. – noon) will set up camp at the campuses’ historic Horseshoe. The game will air at 7 p.m. on ESPN and will be called by Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe.

SEC Network Football: Tripleheader Schedule; SEC Film Room & SEC Nation visits No. 12 Georgia

SEC Network heads into week five of the 2014 college football with a conference matchup of Vanderbilt at Kentucky at noon and two top 25 teams scheduled within the network’s three football games Saturday, Sept. 27.

In addition to daily interviews and analysis from SEC Network studios on SEC Now throughout the week, SEC Film Room (Wed, 8 p.m.) and SEC Nation (Sat, 10 a.m.) focus in on No. 12 Georgia this week. SEC Network analyst David Green will sit down with head coach Mark Richt to talk through the Xs and Os of the Bulldogs recent gridiron matchups as they head into Saturday’s against Tennessee.

SEC Nation’s Tim Tebow, Marcus Spears, Paul Finebaum, host Joe Tessitore and reporter Kaylee Hartung will nestle in Saturday to bring the sights and sounds of the Athens, Ga. tailgating scene, preview the Tennessee at Georgia game and discuss all of the SEC games of the day live from Myers Quad, 10 a.m. to noon.

Capital One Becomes Title Sponsor of the Orange Bowl

As part of an agreement with ESPN, Capital One has secured the title sponsorship of the Orange Bowl, beginning with the Capital One Orange Bowl to be played on December 31, 2014, in South Florida. The multi-year deal builds on Capital One’s substantial support of college athletics by becoming the official credit card and bank of the new College Football Playoff.

The Capital One Orange Bowl will play host to a College Football Playoff Semifinal in year two of the agreement (New Year’s Eve 2015) and again in year five (2018). In the other four years of the agreement, the Capital One Orange Bowl will feature the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Champion (or ACC replacement team should the champion qualify for the College Football Playoff) against a highly ranked team from the Big Ten, Southeastern Conference (SEC) or Notre Dame.
