On Memorial Day Weekend, ESPN will present the semifinals and championship games for the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Championship Presented by Northwestern Mutual from Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
Women’s play begins Friday, May 26, at 5 p.m. ET on the ESPN app with No. 4 seed Penn State facing No. 1 Maryland, followed by Navy taking on Boston College. The winners will advance to play in the national championship title game Sunday, May 28 at 11 a.m. ET on ESPNU.
The men’s semifinals begin Saturday, May 27, at noon on ESPN2 from Gillette Stadium, with Towson facing No. 3 Ohio State and No. 5 Denver playing top-seeded Maryland. The championship on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, will be on ESPN2 at 1 p.m.
Both championships will provide fans with an alternative viewing experience with the use of the SkyCam, available on the ESPN app for the men’s and women’s semifinals and championship title games. Trophy presentations will also be available on the ESPN app following each championship title game.

ESPN covered more than 100 men’s and women’s regular season games this season, and 2017 marks the 23rd consecutive year the network has televised championship weekend in its entirety.
Game Storylines
- Terps Shipping Up to Boston: Both the men’s and women’s teams from Maryland are vying for a national championship as top seeds
- Towson upset No. 2 Syracuse in the quarterfinals to advance to their third semifinal appearance
- For the first time in program history, Ohio State will make its championship weekend appearance
- Semifinal between Denver and Maryland will be a rematch of the 2015 title game; the Pioneers took home the trophy, and were the first school west of North Carolina to take the title
- Navy (W) defeated reigning champion North Carolina to advance to the semifinals
- Four Tewaaraton finalists will be playing in the semifinals: Trevor Baptiste (Denver), Matt Rambo (Maryland), Nadine Hadnagy (Maryland) and Zoe Stukenberg (Maryland)
Features
- Game action will also be captured through a wireless goal camera for an alternate view during the broadcast
- All three game officials will wear microphones during the semifinals and championship, providing on-field dialogue throughout the telecast
Commentators
ESPN’s top lacrosse commentating team will call all the action live from Gillette Stadium.
- The trio of Anish Shroff (play-by-play), Quint Kessenich (analyst) and Paul Carcaterra (sideline reporter/analyst) will be on the call for championship weekend. As former college lacrosse standouts, Kessenich (Johns Hopkins) and Carcaterra (Syracuse) both led their teams to national titles in 1987 and 1995 respectively.
- Host Chris Cotter and analysts Ryan Boyle, a four-time All-American and national champion at Princeton University, and Matt Ward, a former Virginia standout and 2006 recipient of the Tewaaraton Award, will provide in-studio coverage of the semifinals and championship game.
- The women’s lacrosse championship weekend is led by John Brickley (play-by-play) and analyst Sheehan Stanwick-Burch, a former Georgetown lacrosse standout. Halley Quillinan, a former Syracuse lacrosse standout, will serve as the sideline reporter.
