On the June 21 edition of ESPN’s Wednesday Night Baseball presented by Hankook Tire, when the Los Angeles Dodgers host the New York Mets at 10 p.m. ET. on ESPN*, the telecast will highlight the comprehensive, dual-language editorial initiative, ESPN’s Béisbol Experience. The season-long initiative explores an important and complex question – ‘what does it mean to be a Latino player today in Major League Baseball?’. The matchup will also be available on ESPN Deportes and steaming on the ESPN App.
Commentators:
Play-by-play commentator Jon Sciambi will have the call with analysts Rick Sutcliffe and Eduardo Pérez and Marly Rivera reporting from the field. During the telecast, Mets bullpen coach, Ricky Bones will speak with the trio in the booth from his in-game post. Bones, who was born in Puerto Rico, played 11 seasons as a pitcher in the major leagues (1991-2001) and joined the Mets as a coach in 2012.
Additional Production Highlights:
- Rivera’s Béisbol Experience interview with Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig will also air during the telecast in Spanish with English subtitles.
- During the game, ESPN will debut a custom version of the new song from Jorge Blanco, a Latin artist from Disney. The custom version of the hit song, Summer Soul, will be heard for the first time during Wednesday’s matchup and will run throughout the summer across ESPN.
- The telecast will also highlight the growth and impact of Latino American players on Major League Baseball.
Béisbol Experience Week:
June 19-25, ESPN will be showcasing the initiative with content involving dozens of player interviews across shows and platforms, including SportsCenter, Outside the Lines, ESPN.com, ESPN The Magazine and more.
During the 2017 MLB season thus far, ESPN’s domestic and international platforms have provided compelling content through deep reporting, immersive storytelling and hundreds of interviews and profiles across platforms. Most recently, ESPN The Magazine debuted the Béisbol Experience Issue with two separate covers and original content in both English and Spanish.

En la edición del 21 de junio de Wednesday Night Baseball presented by Hankook Tire de ESPN y ESPN Deportes, en la cual los LA Dodgers serán los anfitriones de los New York Mets, a las 10 p.m. ET, la transmisión hará hincapié en ESPN’s Béisbol Experience, la iniciativa editorial de enfoque integrado y en dos idiomas. La iniciativa, que va a durar la temporada entera, explora un tema complejo e importante: “¿Qué significa actualmente ser un jugador latino en Major League Baseball?’. - ESPN Deportes: El juego en español será narrador por Ernesto Jerez (jugada a jugada) junto a Luis Alfredo Alvarez (análisis).
- ESPN (inglés): los comentaristas serán Jon Sciambi (jugada a jugada), Rick Sutcliffe (análisis). Eduardo Pérez y Marly Rivera estarán reportando desde el campo de juego. Durante la transmisión, Ricky Bones, entrenador de bullpen de los Mets, conversará con el trío desde su puesto durante el juego.
